Overview
from the Greek word magneto: attracting
Magnetism is the property of bodies that attract. This force is present in all life forms, be they vegetal, animal and, of course, human.
However, we all possess magnetic forces of varying intensities; similarly, an individual may see his or her magnetism increase or decrease according to his or her level of physical or psychic fatigue.
Strong natural magnetism is therefore a gift that should be cultivated, amplified and tamed by he or she who wishes to use it to ease the pain of others. These people are called
magnetists, healers, bonesetters...and are unfortunately disparaged by modern medicine, when they shouldn't even have to prove their effectiveness healing certain benign afflictions and easing certain types of pain.
Certain states of stress or depression can lead to an "energetic blockage" (we've all felt a "knot in our stomach" or a "lump in our throat"). Thanks to the laying of hands,
the magnetist can unblock chakras, realign centers of energy and allow the latter to circulate harmoniously. This magnetic fluid allows harmony to be reestablished throughout both body and soul.
We may talk of cures only rarely, since a magnetist comforts, realigns and revitalizes the body by bringing energy to areas where it's lacking.
This may be a first step toward a cure, but magnetism sessions are never a substitute for a medical consultation.

Guidelines
One or more sessions with a magnetist can easily relieve many of common maladies:
- insomnia
- ulcers
- digestive problems
- lumbago
- sciatica
- eczema
- herpes zoster
- warts
Note that these conditions are often difficult to combat using scientific medicine.

History
Chi to the ancient Chinese, Prana to the Hindus, Mana to the Pacific Islanders, Vital Fluid to the medieval alchemists... over the ages and throughout the world, man has believed that an energetic fluid traversed the body.
We find laying of hands in the most ancient stories, such as in descriptions of acts of healing by Jesus Christ or the emperor Vespasian.
But the first to truly bring magnetism to the forefront was Austrian doctor Franz Anton Mesmer (1734 - 1815), the author of Influence of the Planets on Human Disease who proposed the theory of animal magnetism or mesmerism.
Mesmer soothed his patients through the laying of hands, as do all magnetists, but he was also able to treat illness by force of his very gaze.
He also invented devices for treating high-society patients of the era using special tubs (Mesmer's famous "banquets").
